Experience and Precision in every Machine Component
The SONDERHOFF SMART-L and SMART-M dosing cells offer automation solutions for mixing and dosing of 2-component reactive materials - especially polyurethanes, silicones and epoxy systems - for fully automated seal foaming, bonding and potting.
The dosing cells incorporate the new DM 50x technology with the MK 800 precision mixing heads, precision gear pumps for metering the material components, the air load measuring device, temperature control and the ecological high-pressure water rinsing system for cleaning the mixing heads as well as other equipment options to increase the process and dosing accuracy.
The 2K reaction materials are conditioned per component in material pressure tanks, e.g. stirred in the tank for uniform material homogenization, loaded with air for the sealing foams or evacuated for the potting.
Each of the process steps involved has its own special requirements. The experience we have gained over decades of machine development makes all the difference here, which is why our machines are so reliable for fully automatic material application.
Dynamic mixing makes the difference
The greatest possible material homogeneity after mixing 2-component material systems with different viscosities can only be achieved with dynamic mixing, especially in the case of demanding, asymmetrical mixing ratios. This is handled by our MK 800 mixing heads.
Material preparation begins with stirring
The material is conditioned according to the specific application requirements in the single- or double-walled material pressure tanks. Depending on the material system, it may be necessary to selectively load the A-component with air, for example in order to obtain a fine-celled foam, or – just the opposite – to degas it for bubble-free clear potting.
The agitator therefore has the function of not only counteracting sedimentation, but also of ensuring uniform air
loading or degassing and temperature distribution.
Recirculation for a constant flow of materials
Highly precise dosing components in a user-friendly dosing system design. The dosing machine cabinet is a compact, self-contained unit that contains all the components important for the dosing process: the precision gear pumps with servo drive for dosing the material components, the high-pressure water unit for rinsing the mixing head, the Peltier cooling device for controlling the temperature of the mixing head and the recirculation hoses, and the LBM 3 air loading measuring device and the compressed air dryer.
Precise refilling for continuous material supply
When used in fully automated manufacturing processes, automatic refilling stations ensure material-appropriate preparation, homogeneous consistency and a continuous material supply to the material pressure tanks of the mixing and dosing system – without exposure or contamination of the products to be filled. Some of the refilling stations are equipped with an automatic lifting device for greater ease of operation and more safety at work and in the plant. Production interruptions are thus a thing of the past.
Equipment used to increase process and dosing accuracy
Additional equipment options can be ordered for the SONDERHOFF SMART dosing cell with DM 50x technology to further increase process and dispensing accuracy, such as the AIR-CLEAN pneumatic nozzle cleaning, the NOZZLE-CONTROL measuring unit for checking the mixing head position, the WEIGHT-CONTROL device for dispensing, the Peltier mixing head cooling system, the LBM 3 air load measuring and control unit, and the sensor mounted on the mixing head for part detection.
